See your Grandparents

Honestly…just go and visit, call them on the phone, message them on Facebook if they’re into that! Sitting here of an evening, sipping a glass of wine, catch a clip from a programme called Mum on BBC2. Don’t know anything more of the programme or what it was about but an elderly gentleman was in his living room flicking through a music play list – all modern day songs that he pulled a disgruntled face to. Then switched to “Girls Just wanna have Fun” by Cyndi Lauper. He started jigging to it as if reminiscing some fun times and sparked a bit of life in him. The shot then pans to his wife, resting, sleeping in a chair with her bandaged leg propped up on a stool. Sudden reality sets in. Watch the clip – it means more than me explaining it. Just made me remember that my life now – having all I have and surrounded by bustle and friends and family, sometimes wishing I had some peace and quiet. Well, one day it might all be peace and quiet. Those who would be around me, off having their own life. So don’t put it off any longer, just call your Grandad or your Nan, your Great Aunt, your elderly neighbour. Takes 5 mins for you and might just make their day.
